Bond No. 9 continues to translate the shires and suburbs of New York into scent with Bond No. 9 Lexington Avenue - another collaboration with the Andy Warhol Foundation. This time, a radiant floral woody chypre for women.

The opening burst is an earthy collection of aromas - sappy cyprus, fennel and spicy cardamom - but moments later, a lustrous bushel of florals emerge ... soft peony and dry orris release their rousing perfume over a marzipan/creme brulée heart. The orris imbues the perfume with a wonderful huskiness against which the sweet florals and gourmand notes are juxtaposed.

After some hours, a chocolate-brown ribbon of wonderful patchouli and fragrant sandalwood weaves itself through the composition, lingering well into the drydown.

Lexington Avenue is a fragrance that will be appreciated by those who enjoy the "more-ishness" of Mugler's Angel perfume or the rich floral fruitiness of La Prairie's Silver Rain perfume, though perhaps Bond No. 9 has succeeded well in diminishing the "candied" nature of the aforementioned scents, and treated it with a very measured hand; emphasising its chypre characteristics with a great degree of sensitivity.

This perfume has striking tenacity and will last the better part of an entire day. Packaged in a vibrant flacon covered in charming illustrations of shoes and footwear, this is one perfume no woman I know could possibly resist!
