DIY pedicures are perfect for fall

During the summer months, we tend to pay the professionals to give us our pedicures since flip-flops and sandals are the norm for most women. During the fall and winter months, even though we gravitate toward the closed-toe shoes, we still want our toes to look nice, right? If you want to save a few bucks but still have gorgeous feet, try a do-it-yourself pedicure.

Invest in a quality foot scrub. The foot scrub is excellent for exfoliating your feet. Remove that dead skin first and foremost. Soak your feet in warm water for several minutes before you apply the foot scrub.

Tidy up the toes. Use your nail file and clippers to trim any skin away from your cuticles. File down your toenails to the desired length. You may want to buy a cuticle oil that helps to repair and replenish cuticles. Once you've cleaned up your toes, soak them again.

Smooth on the cream. You know how you get to pick the scented cream at the spa? Well, go crazy. Pick out a nice-smelling nail cream to rub on your feet at home. Peppermint, lavender, rosemary, you name it. They all have their own benefits for your feet.

Polish it off. Make sure your feet are dry and apply a layer of base coat, which will help your nail polish last longer. Let that layer dry before applying your actual color polish. Once your polish dries, apply a top coat for protection and longevity.

That's it. A do-it-yourself pedicure in no time at all!
